Miracles

Yesterday was a day of miracles. When I left to take Sophie to school, I ran out of the house with an armful of heavy baby, wallet, jackets, keys, and the kitchen sink. I always just throw everything into the van, so was pretty surprised when I got back home 45 mins. later to find that my wallet was not in the van. I have a thin hold on sanity and this threatened to snip it with ultra sharp scissors. I sent up a plea to heaven and immediately thought that I left it on the hood of the van-- something I rarely do. All of the places it could have ended up from there frightened me. I ran out to the garage. No luck. I ran out to the driveway. No luck. I went out to the culdesac. Nope. I was panicking. I looked down towards the intersection. There in the gutter was a black mound that looked suspiciously like my wallet. Since I'm blind, I had to verify my suspicions. Hooray! The wallet was found!!! Untouched. Miracle. To make the story better, not 15 minutes after I picked it up, a street sweeper came through the culdesac. Ally and I said a thank you prayer.

Against my better judgement, I let Malynn wear my favorite earrings to school. She always strips out of pants (if I can get her into them in the first place) and into a skirt as soon as she gets home. I thoughtfully picked up her levis out of the heap and threw them into the washer. Two loads later, she told me that she had left my earrings in the pocket. Words were spoken. Tears were shed. We went and looked in the washer together. Amazingly, the earrings were there, hooked in the drainage holes, even though they were small enough to pass through. Malynn and I said a thank you prayer.

Whenever I start to feel badly for myself, Heavenly Father always reminds me just how much He loves me. Like when He has people call and volunteer to babysit the hoard for us, since Dan spends so much time with the Scouts. Like when he gives me the greatest friends around. Like when Sophie tells me in chapters ("Chapter 1. I can't do it. Chapter 2. I don't want to do it by myself. Chapter 3. You need to help me.") why she can't eat her dinner by herself. Or like when Heidi gives me one of her wet smooches accompanied with a head butt. Like when Malynn comes home from her class' serious study of Australia to tell us that in the outback, eggs are known as bum nuts. I just need to focus on the glorious and forget the rest. So, thanks again, Heavenly Father.
